Can adults receive orthodontic care?

Of course! We’re happy to work with adults at any age and help them find the orthodontic solution that will best fit their unique needs and lifestyle.

What’s the best age for my child to begin orthodontic care?

As we said orthodontic care is for everyone – but we have found that certain misalignments and other problems tend to be corrected much more easily if they’re treated while the jaw is still growing. The American Association of Orthodontics recommends that your child first see an orthodontist when they’re around the age of seven. This will allow Dr. Shamtoub and his team ample time thoroughly examine the condition of your son or daughter’s mouth and create some recommendations for treatment that you can discuss.

How long will I have to wear my braces?

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer for how long orthodontic treatment can take – times vary due to a variety of factors, such as the severity of your problems.

On average, you’ll need to wear braces between one and three years. Your treatment will be sure to go much more smoothly if you keep up with regular check-ups and follow any suggestions our team provides you with!

 Do braces hurt?

Although you may experience some soreness during the first week or so after having them placed, braces should not be painful at all during the vast majority of your treatment.

Will my braces interfere with playing sports?

Not at all! All we suggest is that you wear a mouthguard in order to protect your braces from harm.

If I have braces, do I still need to attend regular check-ups?

Absolutely! In fact, it’s actually  - we want to ensure that there’s no sneaky bacteria building up in hard-to-reach places, after all.

In addition, check-ups allow us to check your progress and ensure that your teeth are moving according to your treatment plan.
